Calendula
Longest history of use of any herb in skin care. The petals are antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and immune stimulating. These properties are useful for treating various types of dermatitis such as psoriasis & eczema. Calendula’s skin-soothing benefits can likely be attributed to its anti-inflammatory properties and ability to limit trans-epidermal water loss, which in turn strengthens the skin’s defenses against potential irritants. The high content of antioxidants found in Calendula contributes to the cell regeneration. Some of these antioxidants are mucilage, carotenoids, saponin, and quercetin. Fresh calendula flower heads are hand harvested, & organically grown by Sophia herself, ensuring the highest quality flowers for Ancestral Aura tallow balms.

Comfrey
For more than 2000 years, the comfrey plant has been utilized for medicinal purposes. The ancient Greeks first recorded comfrey's use as a traditional, herbal remedy around 400 BC. Comfrey was utilized to repair broken bones, which is why it is also known as the 'plant that mends.' The Latin word Confervere, which means 'to join together, to mend, or to heal,' is the origin of the name. The roots and leaves of comfrey contain allantoin, which promotes new skin cell growth, and other compounds that reduce inflammation and keep skin healthy. Comfrey has also been utilized to treat bruises, pulled muscles and ligaments, fractures, sprains, strains, and osteoarthritis. Ancestral Aura’s Comfrey is sourced from Sophia’s beyond organic native herb garden, maintaining the high standards for our tallow balms.
